Nelson flips his commitment to Arizona

As Arizona looks to close out its 2016 class in the final days of the current recruiting cycle the Wildcats picked up another commitment Saturday night when Lakeland (Fla.) Kathleen defensive end Francisco Nelson made his decision. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound recruit was previously committed to Florida Atlantic but during his official trip to Arizona he announced that he would be opening things up and looking at his options.

At that point it was a good sign for the Wildcats and by Saturday evening Nelson had flipped to Arizona. It was another Florida commit for safeties coach Jahmile Addae who picked up a pledge from receiver Jessie Britt earlier in the week. UA wants to continue to reestablish its connection with Florida recruits and that'll has been a focus down the stretch for the ‘Cats.

Nelson had been committed to FAU since July, and he now becomes the 15th commitment for the Wildcats with just a few days until National Signing Day.

Arizona has had to endure a few late decommitments late and some of those have come along the defensive line, so adding a prospect like Nelson had become a priority. Because of his versatility Nelson could potentially play outside linebacker at the next level as well.
